Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Great question, and perhaps the most important one. We treat patients who have fertility and reproductive health issues AS WELL as patients with all manner of general health concerns. Before booking a consultation, it is important to work out the right initial consultation for you. The best way to determine the correct appointment for you is to ask the question: Am I trying to conceive and have a baby?
If you are trying to conceive, have been working with an IVF clinic or are thinking about trying to conceive, then you should book in with one of our fertility naturopaths for an INITIAL FERTILITY consultation.
If you are NOT trying to conceive but have a reproductive issue like endometriosis, PCOS, adenomyosis, hypothalamic amenorrhea then you can book in for a one hour initial naturopathic appointment.
If you are not trying to conceive and have a general health issue like a thyroid disorder, you want to lose weight, you have raised cholesterol, gut issues or acne for example, then you need to book a one hour initial naturopathic consultation.
If you're not sure which naturopath or appointment type suits you best, please give our reception a call. Our admin team is happy to guide you through the process and match you with the right practitioner.
The good news is, you don’t need a referral to see a naturopath. Although many of our patients are referred in to us from their friends, family, doctor or fertility specialist, you do not need to have a referral to see a naturopath
Yes. We offer video consultations for both initial and follow-up appointments for patients who are unable to attend in person. Please specify when booking that you'd prefer a telehealth appointment. All online consultations are conducted via a secure platform, and you’ll receive a link beforehand.
Yes. All six of our naturopaths are heavily booked. Once we start working with you, we don’t want to have your treatment stalled by being unable to book in for a follow up consultation. We encourage you to be organized and ensure that when you book your initial fertility or initial general naturopathic appointment, you book the follow up consultation to ensure we are able to progress your treatment.
The initial appointment is one hour. As all of our naturopaths are heavily booked, it is always a good idea to book your follow up consultation in advance. We generally recommend you book it, at the same time as booking your initial appointment, for 4 weeks later.
Absolutely. Our clinic is set up with little ones in mind — we know that arranging childcare isn’t always possible. You're very welcome to bring your baby or child with you. We just recommend bringing a toy or book to help keep them occupied during your consultation, as it’s important we can focus fully on your health care during the session.
As of January 1st 2025 our naturopathic fertility specialists’ hourly rate is $265/hour
45 minutes: $225
30 minutes: $150
As of January 1st 2025 our general naturopathic fees are:
1 hour: $240
45 minutes: $200
30 minutes: $135
Not just yet. In 2019, naturopathy was removed from private health insurance extras cover. However, the government has recently approved its reinstatement, and insurers are now working on updating their policies and systems. We expect private health rebates for naturopathy to return sometime in 2026. We'll keep you updated as soon as claiming becomes available.
Missed appointments and late cancellations prevent our naturopaths from helping someone else in need. Please provide 48 hours notice (during business hours). I.e. an appointment scheduled for 9am Monday will need to be cancelled no later than 9am Thursday morning. Missed consultations or late cancellations without 48 hours notice will incur the full consultation fee.
Due to the extended nature of initial fertility consultations, we require one weeks notice for cancellation or cancellation fees will apply.
To ensure you get the most out of your consultation with your naturopath, please ensure you have copies of all of your previous test results. Your naturopath will not have direct access to them, so it is your responsibility to ensure they are brought with you or emailed through in advance. If you are emailing them from your My Gov account, please ensure you label each result with the test name when you email it in.
Please bring in every medication or supplement you are taking. We don’t want to spend valuable consultation time looking up vague supplements or medications, this is the time we want to be focusing on your health.
If you have had a complex fertility journey to date, it is very helpful to bring with you a time line with details of eggs collections, embryo numbers, endometrial lining thickness, miscarriage details etc. to ensure your naturopath can gather as much information as possible that helps them further your case.
Please note that email is not the recommended way to progress your case (unless you have a pre-arranged email consultation, which is billed as per the hourly rate). For any pressing clinical queries relating to your treatment, please email your naturopath directly. Please note, your naturopath has a very full patient load and can take a few days to reply to emails. If your query is detailed, you may be advised to book a consultation or organise a brief email consultation.
FERTILITY APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This consultation covers an extensive case taking where your naturopathic fertility specialist is working to understand exactly where you are in the fertility journey. Each case is unique and we need to work out exactly what has been done and what has been overlooked. If you have just started trying, a large part of the consultation is understanding your health and lifestyle, organising any testing pertinent to your case and teaching you exactly how to protect and promote the health of your sperm and eggs to work towards a healthy pregnancy and shorten your time to conception.
If you have been on a fertility journey for a while, or for a long time, this consultation is about having fresh eyes on your case, looking for what has been overlooked and what can be done to improve your fertility or address complex fertility issues. Once again, testing where necessary is organized and lifestyle issues negatively impacting fertility are addressed.
We are very good at helping couples to achieve their dream and have a baby. One of the reasons for our success is because we are thorough. If you are trying to conceive, ideally, we are working to get the healthiest egg and sperm to meet and result in a healthy pregnancy and the birth of a beautiful baby. The health of your sperm and egg is heavily influenced by your general health. Seldom are fertility issues just the result of one person. Many couples don’t realise that the egg has to work very hard in the first few hours after conception to address any damage in the sperm. The less damage the sperm has, the less the egg has to do, the easier it is to allow rapid cell division and an embryo to form and continue to grow. The parameters of normal that a male may see on a semen analysis are actually derived from the bottom 5th percentile of men that take one year of regular intercourse to conceive. Our aim is to help both partners have the healthiest sperm and eggs (not just sit over the bottom 5th percentile) to do everything we can to shorten the time to conception and maintenance of a pregnancy.
Then we will work with just you and we will do everything we can to ensure you are covering every aspect of health that may be an impediment to your fertility.
Yes, absolutely. We are just as meticulous to help women or couples using donor eggs, sperm or embryos. We do everything we can to ensure you are in the best health for whatever your fertility journey encompasses.
Your naturopathic fertility specialist will see you and your partner for the initial consultation (2 hours) and then each month for a one hour appointment. As all our naturopaths are heavily booked, it is always a good idea to book your follow up consultation in advance. We recommend you book it at the same time as booking your initial appointment.
Pathology and Working with your GP
Yes. As naturopaths, we regularly recommend pathology tests as part of our assessment and treatment planning. We work closely with GPs and fertility specialists, or in some cases we may recommend private testing through one of the pathology companies we partner with. Testing is always tailored to your case and needs, and discussed in your consultation.
Yes, our naturopaths often collaborate with fertility specialists, GPs and other healthcare professionals. If you're under the care of another practitioner, we’re happy to work collaboratively as part of your care team.
